Great Scrape

What is the Great Scrape made of?

The Great Scrape is made of solid hardwood (Red Oak / Beech), and is coated with an all natural, non-toxic, food safe mineral oil

Do I need to treat my Great Scrape with anything?

Each Great Scrape is already treated with a food safe mineral oil (butcher block oil). If the color begins to fade over time, reapply mineral oil as appropriate.

How do I clean the Great Scrape wood grill scraper after use?

Unlike the conventional wire brushes, the Great Scrape can be cleaned by simply wiping the charred debris off the tip with a paper towel, cloth or napkin.

How do I clean the sides or bottom of my grill grates?

To clean the sides of the BBQ grill grates, simply turn the Great Scrape at an angle to reach in between the grates. To clean the bottom of the grates, flip the grates over and use the Great Scrape as normal. If the grates are spaced very closely together, remove the grates and wash or soak in water.

How do I know if the Great Scrape is right for my grill?

Generally, as long as your grill grates are straight, the Great Scrape should work on your grill. Because the size and shape of all grill grates vary by manufacturer, the Great Scrape may groove faster and/or deeper on some grills than it will on others.

Is the Great Scrape safe for porcelain coated grill grates?

Yes, because the Great Scrape is made of solid wood, there are no metal bristles or metal scrapers to chip, crack or scratch delicate cooking surfaces such as porcelain, ceramic, or others.

How long will it take for my Great Scrape to start grooving?

The grooves will start to form during the first use. Although they start small, as you continue to use the Great Scrape the grooves will get deeper and deeper, eventually covering the cooking surface of each individual grate.

How long will my Great Scrape last?

Because of the design, the grooving process will slow down as the grooves reach the thicker part of the wood. Longevity is also determined by how well it is taken care of. We recommend storing it out of the elements e.g. under your grill cover. With proper care you should expect years of use from your Great Scrape.

How do you use the Great Scrape wood grill scraper?

1. Get The Grill Hot - to start the grooving process, ensure your grill is hot. The hotter the better. High heat allows the grooves to form quickly. 2. Work Back and Forth - Using slow firm pressure, pass the Great Scrape front to back on the hot grates. Small groovers will begin to form. 3. Repeat - align the previously formed grooves to the grates ensuring that only ONE good set of grooves are formed. Once grooves have formed high heat is not necessary.

Works with Weber.

"I love to barbeque and this works great with my Weber grill"

      - Andy

Love this, works perfectly.

"After using this grill scraper for a busy season of barbecuing, I can say it is definitely the best grill scraper I've ever had and it does not have the danger of wire brushes.  I use this with a gas grill and it works exceptionally well"

     - Penny

Loved it.

"This was a Father's Day gift for my husband, who loves no- frills life and products. He was like a kid using it the first, came in from the deck, so happy showing me how it was "grooving"! Thanks for a well- made scraper."

     - Margaret

Works great.

"Purchased three of these for my husband and two sons for Father's Day. They work great!"

Finally, I've found a good scraper.

"I use Grill Grates on my grills. Great for cooking, not so easy to clean. I've tried several different ways to get the grate rails clean, but nothing I've tried short of pressure washing them, would clean off the grates. I gave this a shot and it works like a champ. Actually, it will work on ANY grate because it comes with a flat tip that you customize to your grates by burning it in on the hot grates the first time you use it. I was skeptical at first, but man, it works. Once it's burned in, you can use it when the grates are cold if you want to. Only down side is it will only burn in for one size/spacing, so if you have multiple grills with multiple grate patterns, you'll have to buy a scraper for each grill. "Grate" product. Highly recommended."

Works Great.  I always clean the grill when I'm done.

"Works Great. I always clean the grill when I'm done. This Great Scrape removed food from the my porcelain grates very easily with damaging the coating on the grates and this Great Scrape is also easy to clean. Absolutely love it."

It is high quality and even has a great smell to it.

"Honestly, I was somewhat skeptical that this would be the answer. Well... this is the answer. No melting material or dangerous grill needles. It is high quality wood and even has a great smell to it."

One of the best grilling accessories I've ever purchased.

"One of the best grilling accessories I've ever purchased. No more metal bristles potentially in my food, or weird grill cleaning pads. This thing is awesome. Excellent size, should last a good long while. I've had it for months and it's only about half and inch worn down. I'm thinking about buying a couple extra for my other various sized grill grates."
