Oktoberfest Philly Cheese Steak


Ingredients

Mayo

1 cup mayonnaise

2 cloves garlic, minced

Marinade

1 cup Guinness (or other) stout

1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce

1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

2 Tbsp. molasses (not blackstrap)

1 tbsp onion powder

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 Tbsp. rosemary

1 pound beef round steak

Veggies

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 green bell peppers

2 yellow onions, sliced into rings

salt and pepper to taste

Bun

4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise and toasted

1 (8 ounce) package shredded mozzarella cheese

1 teaspoon dried oregano

butter

Directions

  1. In a resealable bag, mix together the Guinness, soy sauce, Worcestershire, molasses, onion powder, garlic, and rosemary. Add the steak, turning to coat, and marinate for several hours or overnight. Remove the steak from the marinade.

  2. Pat the steak dry and season with pepper. Grill the steak until medium rare or about 125º. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing it thinly across the grain.

  3. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and minced garlic. Cover, and refrigerate.

  4. Place peppers and onions on skewers, brush with olive oil, add salt and pepper

  5. Coat buns in butter, sprinkle with oregano, place on grill face up. Add mozzarella cheese to bun, grill until melted

  6. Add garlic mayo to bun. Place steak, pepper, and onions on buns, serve.
